At Tallowood there is as much to do as you wish; although, with an outdoor wood-fired oven, BBQ area, swimming pool, children’s playground, and peaceful location, one could be forgiven for just choosing to simply relax.  There is ample walking and exploring to be done on the farm, over the hills, and throughout the surrounding forest. Spring-fed Spicketts Creek meanders through the property, providing some swimming holes along the way. A walk to Dante’s Peak and along the ridge of Hidden Valley gives the visitor a birds eye view of Tallowood and offers majestic views across the mountain ranges towards Dorrigo.

There are abundant opportunities at Tallowood to get to know our farm animals and the local wildlife. On our farm, you can find our chicken brood, cattle herd, and two ponies.

For 4WD enthusiasts, mountain bike riders, and bushwalkers, there are hundreds of kilometres of tracks through the State Forest to explore.  There are hundreds of kilometres of forestry roads and trails perfectly suited for mountain bike riding, trail bike riding, or 4WD exploration. Bellingen Shire has a lot to offer for visitors – from the Dorrigo Plateau, through the Bellinger Valley, and out to the spectacular coast – there is a lot to explore during your stay at Tallowood. I Love Bello Shire offers a wealth of local information to help you plan your holiday.

The historic town of Bellingen is just twenty minute drive away. Bellingen is a thriving town located in the beautiful, lush, Bellinger River Valley. There are many excellent cafes and restaurants, shops, a riverside park,  Old Butter Factory, Yellow Shed, a riverside golf course, and a community swimming pool.

The coastal towns of Urunga, Mylestom, and Hungry Head are just a half hour drive from Tallowood. With superb beaches, boardwalks, picnic and BBQ facilities, river access for fishing, boating, swimming, paddling kayaks or canoes, sailing and  surfing, and a fabulous golf course, you will ever be short of places to go and things to do.  

Coffs Harbour is away from Tallowood. There is a plethora of activities on offer in Coffs Harbour,  Sawtell Headland, and Boambee Creek Reserve. Mutton Bird Island offers spectacular views up and down the coast, and is a must-see for anyone visiting Coffs Harbour. Nambucca Heads is also under 60 minutes drive away. Valla Beach, Main beach, Shelly Beach, Nambucca River Park, and the Breakwall are all well worth exploring.

Whilst Tallowood may be feel like a “Retreat” it is within easy reach of so much to see and do, should you wish to leave for a few hours during your stay.
